Your costs changed. Are your prices still right?

The Prime Cost Calculator (PCC) calculates what each product really costs, from ingredients and labor to yield loss, packaging, freight, and case pricing. Then it lets you test prices to make sure your margins are sustainable.

No credit card required. Already have an account?

Enter the batch, the packaging, and the labor. The prime cost works itself out.

What it does

Know the real cost of each product, update every affected cost at once, and see what your prices leave behind.

  • Change one price, re-cost everything

Enter ingredients, packaging, and labor. Then, when a supplier price changes, every recipe, batch, and product that uses it updates automatically.

  • Costs the way you actually make it

From ingredients all the way to your finished product, the cost of labor and freight, and even yield loss, stay in the calculation at every stage.

  • Model prices before you commit

Set distributor, wholesale, and retail prices. See margin, markup, and COGS at every package level, then adjust until the numbers work for your business.

How it works

Start with one product. Once shared ingredients, packaging, and labor are entered, every product after it gets faster.

  1. STEP 01

    Enter what you buy

Enter ingredients and packaging at the prices your suppliers charge. PCC calculates the per-ounce, per-gram, and per-unit costs.

  2. STEP 02

    Build the batch

Enter what goes into each batch, what comes out, and the labor required at every stage.

  3. STEP 03

    Pack it

Add each package, label, case, and master case. PCC automatically spreads those costs across each unit.

  4. STEP 04

    Analyze

See the true cost and margin for every package level and sales channel.

Straight answers

Including when the answer is no.

My spreadsheet already works. What does this do that it can't?

It depends how much of a spreadsheet wizard you are. PCC stores ingredient, packaging, freight, and labor costs once; applies different labor rates at each production stage; accounts for yield loss; and updates every product that uses them. Your spreadsheet may work today. The problem is keeping it accurate as prices, products, pack sizes, and labor rates change.

A buyer wants 8% off. Can I tell in a phone call whether I can say yes?

Yes. If a case sells for $105.00 and costs $58.60, the margin is 44.2%. An 8% discount brings the price to $96.60 and the margin to 39.3%. You can answer the buyer immediately, and see what happens if ingredient costs change before the order ships.

How does the cost actually build up?

Ingredient to recipe to batch to finished product to case to master case. Labor and freight stay visible at every stage, so you can see exactly where the final cost comes from.

How long before I get a real number?

Start with one product, perhaps the one you sell the most. Enter its ingredients, batch yield, packaging, and labor. That gives you a real number you can check, and shared costs are already available for the next product.

Can I import my spreadsheet?

No. Not yet. You enter ingredients, packaging, and labor rates the first time. It takes some setup, but those costs are then reused across products.

Can I get my data back out?

Yes. Export your full product catalog, including costs and freight, to CSV whenever you want. No export fee and no notice period.

Does it do what-if scenarios or compare two cost or pricing scenarios for the same product side by side?

Side-by-side cost and price modeling is not built yet. However, you can change an input and immediately see every affected product update.

Can it cost a gift basket or an assortment?

Not yet. Today, PCC costs one recipe in its packaging. It cannot yet combine several finished products and purchased items into a gift basket, variety pack, or assortment.

Does it track inventory, purchasing or suppliers?

No. PCC costs what you make and pack. It is not an ERP and does not track inventory, purchasing, or suppliers. PCC was built to solve one key problem: create sustainable pricing based on true direct costs.

Will it talk to QuickBooks, WooCommerce or Square?

Not today. Costing lives in PCC and your books stay where they are. CSV is the bridge for now.

Where does my data sit, and who can see it?

Each business has its own separate data set. Automated tests prevent one business from accessing another's information. Within your business, invited users see information according to one of three fixed roles.

What does it not do that I should know now?

Today, PCC does not include inventory or lot traceability, cost history, trend charts, supplier records, scheduled or PDF reports, automatic currency conversion, or a mobile app. Tell us what you need. Customer requests help set the product roadmap!
